Meditation on True Love
Friday, February 3; 6 -7:30pm
We can think of Valentine’s Day as a celebration of intimacy. Relationships of love and intimacy are things that we all long for. Intimacy means to be totally present and deeply connected with another. Meditation, far from being the solitary endeavor it is often imagined, is actually a practice of waking up to our deep connectedness. It is a practice of cultivating love in our hearts. We can use Thich Nhat Hanh’s mantra, “Dear one, I am here for you.” We can train ourselves in love and happiness. Come practice with us!
Todd Fields instructs. Love Offerings Appreciated. No registration necessary. Simply show up.

Be With Your True Nature
Friday, February 10, from 6-8pm
Our aim in meditation is to experience the truth, especially the truth of our own nature. While we emphasize meditation practice we also mix in movement and reflection as well as guided and silent meditation. We offer a chance to practice meditation in movement and at rest through sitting, standing, and lying down.
Won Buddhism is a new form of Buddhism for the modern world. Originating in Korea in 1916, its founder Sot’aesan envisioned a practice for all people. He believed that great enlightenment is possible without removing oneself from worldliness, and that in fact living in the world and applying the practice and clarity of the dharma would facilitate awakening as well as transform the world into a paradise.
No experience is necessary. Open to all. Donations gratefully accepted.Led by Rev. WonGong and Rev. IIDug (919-933-6946, wonbuddhismNC@gmail.com)

Yoga Nidra Meditation
Friday, February 24, 6-7pm
Our minds require consistent training to help us free ourselves of the habits that cause tension in our lives, just as our bodies do. Yoga Nidra literally means "sleep of the yogis". It is a physical and mental relaxation technique which penetrates into much deeper levels of consciousness. Adherents claim that half an hour of Yoga Nidra can replace up to three hours of normal sleep! No experience or pre registration needed; all are welcome!

These are good reasons to explore the practice of Pilates as it relates to Yoga! Many of the exercises we practice in Pilates are similar to the poses we do in Yoga. Heart Goals are Smart Goals: Achieve What Matters Most in 2012
Saturday, March 31,1- 4 pm
There’s something about the freshness of a new year that calls forth good intentions. You feel a burst of energy – or gentle pull – to create positive change. Yet most New Year’s resolutions fall by the wayside. Even with the best of intentions, day-to-day demands and entrenched habits tend to win the day. It doesn’t have to be that way. Yoga and goal achievement are both about the process of experiencing the moment while on your way to a destination. And neither one is satisfying if you struggle with every step along the way ... even if you do ultimately reach your desired outcome. You can achieve goals that are important to you and enjoy the process. This workshop combines presentation, discussion, and a yoga practice – appropriate for all levels – that will leave you feeling inspired, relaxed, and with increased awareness on how to make 2012 a great year. Come with a journal and pen, and a willingness to play and explore!
Sherry Essig instructs. $40 Moving From the Organs
with Judith Hanson Lasater
November 2-6, 2012 11-4pm each day
We often focus on practicing our poses from the spine, arms and legs. But the ancient teachings of yoga also dealt with the opening and quieting the organs of the body, like the heart, kidneys and liver that are found in the “kunda” or vessel holding these organs.
During this 20 hour workshop we will focus on specific poses that create a healthy balance for the organs in the chest and abdomen, as well as explore the theories of why they work. All types of poses will be studied, including backbends, inversions, forward bends and twists. We will also spend some time on specific therapeutic applications that will be immediately applicable to ourselves and to our students. We will begin each day with a focus intention and then go directly to practicing Active poses. In the second session of the day, we will focus on a Quiet Practice – Restorative yoga, meditation and pranayama. Throughout the workshop we will return our awareness to stabilizing and balancing from the inside, as well as focusing on how to teach others to do so. For experienced students and teachers. Cost: $695.00
Mark Your calendars!! Registration Opens January 2012.
