Our PhilosophyThe
Moving Mantra Yoga Studio seeks to create a loving, nurturing and safe
environment to support inward journeys. As teachers, we hope to
facilitate the exploration of the body, mind and spirit from a place of
loving self acceptance and non judgment. Moving Mantra Yoga teaches
from the traditional eight limbed system which integrates positive
attitudes towards the self and others, the physical practice including
asana (postures), pranayama (breathing techniques), understanding and
controlling the chatter of the mind, developing concentration,
cultivating relaxation and learning simple meditation techniques. We
adopt a loving, authentic approach to the practice by honoring each
student's individual needs, limitations, curiosities and strengths. In
the true spirit of Yoga, we hope to foster a sense of community amongst
students, teachers, and our community. What Is Yoga?Yoga is an ancient system of self development which integrates the elements of the physical, mental and spiritual. The
word yoga means to yoke, or unite. There are several limbs of yoga,
with our main focus being on asana, or physical postures and movement,
pranayama, or working with the breath, and meditation. The regular practice of yoga will help develop a clear, bright mind, and a strong, capable body. The
practice of asana and pranayama prepares the body and mind for
meditation, which allows for inner silence and connection with the
inner spirit, and healing from everyday stress. |
