Calming
the Nervous System,
Quieting the Brain:
Restorative Yoga for
Stressful Times
Sunday, December 12,
2-4pm
In
the pace of our demanding
daily lives, especially
during this busy holiday
season, we often neglect
time for stillness. When
we are in chronic
over-drive, our bodies,
minds and hearts suffer.
Restorative Yoga is a
deeply restful practice.
Props are used to support
the body in poses that are
sustained for longer
periods of time so that
the body can drop deeply
into stillness, and the
mind and spirit can rest
and rejuvenate. Gentle
breathing practices are
incorporated to cultivate
ease in the body. The
practice of Restorative
Yoga helps calm the
nervous system, and helps
establish or renew
internal balance of mind,
body, and spirit. It is a
very healing practice
accessible to all levels
of experience from the
novice to the seasoned
practioner. Pre
registration is strongly
recommended as space is
limited. Special
Holiday pricing! $20

Special
Holiday Program!!
Yoga Nidra:
The Meditative Heart
of Yoga
Thursday,
December 16, 5:45-7pm
Take
an opportunity to
alleviate the stress
that often accompanies
the holiday season.
Our minds
require consistent
training to help us
free ourselves of the
habits that cause
tension in our lives,
just as our bodies do.
Yoga Nidra literally
means "sleep of
the yogis". It is
a physical and mental
relaxation technique
which penetrates into
much deeper levels of
consciousness.
Adherents claim that
half an hour of Yoga
Nidra can replace up
to three hours of
normal sleep! We'll
begin with a very
gentle Yoga asana warm
up, and take the bulk
of our time for the
Yoga Nidra meditation.
No
registration
necessary; no
experience necessary.
Sunny
Davis and Cyndi Bulka
instruct. Love
Offerings appreciated.

Holiday
Help!
Cultivating Peace with
Gentle Yoga and Meditation
Friday, December 17,
6-7pm
No
matter how you may or may
not celebrate,
holiday seasons are
often fraught with extra
demands on our time and
resources, in
addition to joyful celebrations.
To many, this can be
exhausting. The
tradition across faiths
during this time of year
is about Peace. How
can we have peace in the
midst of all this
busy-ness and expectation?
We must make and take time
to cultivate it.
Join us for a slower
paced, gentle Yoga and
meditation practice that
will help you find Peace
within. No
experience necessary.
No
registration needed,
simply show up. No
fee, love offerings
appreciated. Howie
Shareff instructs.

Reflections
from Cyndi
Finding
Peace and Joy Within
The
gift of celebrating the
holidays with family and
friends can be a true
treasure to behold.
This season of Joy and
Peace can also trigger
strong emotions and put
extra demands on our time, leaving
us feeling depleted and
stressed. As Yoga
practitioners, we can rely
on our practice to help us
through the season with a
sense of calm and inner
peace.
After
many years of operating a
studio, I have come to
observe how many students
abandon their practice
during the holiday
season...just when you
need it most!! We
can derive much joy in the
company of fellow Yogis,
and the regular practice
of Yoga, Pranayama and
meditation can rejuvenate
and invigorate tired
bodies, minds and hearts.
This
month we are offering
extra programming to help
you maintain your center
and deepen your sense of
inner peace. Many of
them are donation based
offerings. I
encourage you to mark your
calendar for one (or a
few!) of these programs.
How
do you cultivate Peace in
your daily life?
This is a good question to
pose to oneself. For
me, cultivating peace is
about maintaining a
regularity of practice
that includes the
stillness of meditation.
It includes making time to
be in nature and making
deliberate choices to
manage the amount of
mental stimulation of TV,
radio, computer and phone.
It means tending to my
close relationships, and
taking good care of my
health. Gratitude for
the blessings of my life
engenders a sense of peace
in my heart. If I am
careful to tend to my
personal sense of peace,
it becomes more effortless
to expand that peace in to
my work, relationships and
contact with the
inevitable busy-ness of
the world.
How
do you cultivate Joy in
your daily life? Yoga
practice invites a
certain kind of
playfulness if we don't
take ourselves too
seriously. Being
connected to others also
nurtures joyfulness. Joy
is infectious. Try
keeping a straight face in
the presence of the
unbridled laughter!
You can't help but smile.
Joy also arises from
simplicity. A beautiful
sunrise, a simple shared
meal, a long walk, quality
time spent with loved
ones, extending a helping
hand to others when you
witness need...we have so
many opportunities for Joy
if we only open our eyes
and heart to what is
before us!
May
you cultivate balance
in your life during this
busy season by taking good
care of your health and
well being, honoring your
truth, and renewing your
commitment to practice.
May you find your personal
sense of Peace and Joy
within, and then celebrate
the season by shining that
light in to the lives of
others.
Namaste
and Many Blessings
