Philosophy: Dharana, Dhyana &
Samadhi
Friday, July 16, 6-8pm
Dharana
(concentration), Dhyana
(meditation), and Samadhi
(total absorption) are the
last 3 limbs of Patanjali's
Eight Limbs. These are
referred to as the 'internal'
limbs and can simply be looked
upon as a gradual progression
in the process of mediation.
In this session we'll discuss
Patanjali's philosophy on
these topics and look at some
different techniques we can
use for meditation. Led
by Subhash Mital.
Donations welcomed.

| Yoga Nidra
Friday, July 23, 6-8pm
Our minds require consistent
training to help us free
ourselves of the habits that
cause tension in our lives,
just as our bodies do. Yoga
Nidra literally means
"sleep of the
yogis". It is a
physical and mental
relaxation technique which
penetrates into much deeper
levels of consciousness.
Adherents claim that half an
hour of Yoga Nidra can
replace up to three hours of
normal sleep! No experience
necessary.
Cyndi Bulka
instructs.

Yoga for the Caregiver
Friday, July 30, 6-7:30pm
This
class is offered for primary
caregivers of parents or
children with special needs.
As a constant caregiver, you
may not feel like you have the
time to take care of your own
health and renew your spirit.
It is vitally important to
schedule time for self care so
that you can effectively care
for those you love. Reserve
this 90-minute class for
yourself to practice gentle
stretches, deep breathing and
meditation, which will leave
you feeling relaxed and
recharged. Diane
Stakoe instructs.

Reflections
from Cyndi
Yoga
and Creativity
Each morning I
start the day by
giving myself
the time to
connect to the
stillness
within.
During the warm
months, I often
sit outside and
allow my
practice to
unfold in
concert with
nature as the
day stretches
itself in to
being.
Practice often
waxes and wanes
in terms of it's
intensity, sense
of spaciousness
and ease.
Over the years I
have learned to
trust this
natural cadence
and release my
grip on having
to achieve any
particular kind
of result.
What I have
discovered is
that within the
rhythm of my
practice's
ebbing and
flowing, so too
does my
creativity,
which reaches
out in to all
aspects of
living from
work, play, rest and
also in to
my
relationships.
Just as my
practice has
deepened over
time, becoming
more consistent
and steady,
permeating my
everday life, my
creativity has
expanded
similarly.
Recently I had a
particularly
expansive
morning
practice, and
the words seemed
to literally
flow from my
heart to my hand
and onto paper.
I thought I'd
share.
Drink
deeply of life
like
a thirsty summer
lily
pink
throat open to
receive the rain
Walk
barefoot in the
wet morning
grass
to
greet the sleepy sanguine
dog stretched in
the sun
His
soft underbelly
exposed
for
the loving sweep
of a trusted
hand.
Be
still with
fear
when
it wraps it's
sticky
tentacles
around your
heart
choking
dreams
Simply
bid this
insistent
visitor
goodbye,
smiling.
And
receive the
howling wind
Let
it echo inside
Reverberating
it's gentle
reminder
to let go
with unfettered
abandon
and fly
into the
wisdom of
uncertainty.
Peace,
and Many
Blessings,
Namaste
