This week at Moving Mantra:
The Ten Yogic Bodies: Exploring Our Capacity for Wholeness
Friday, May 18, 6-7:30pm
Imagine living radiantly, in any situation. There are said to be ten yogic bodies which, like the chakras, are facets of our wholeness. They correspond to our capacities, and when we cultivate our focus, we can feel the effects: freedom from negativity, the ability to see opportunities, and decision-making based on strong inner knowing.
In this practice we’ll awaken, strengthen and balance the ten mind/bodies, using movement, mantra and meditation. Asana (postures) will encourage flexibility and strengthen the nervous system. Using mantra (sounding), we’ll call on the universe to support our fulfillment and joy. With pranayama (breathwork) techniques and some guided observation, let’s practice together to rest deeply in a natural, easeful meditation. No registration needed. Donations appreciated. Birgit Patty instructs.
Special Benefit Class!
Saturday May 19, from 9-10:30am
Compassionate Strength and Flow with Trudi Taylor
Join us in welcoming Trudi to our staff by joining us for a special class to benefit the Cary Cross Currents Music Arts Festival. The Festival has grown into a two week long mix of concerts which brings together musicians from many nations and collaborates with Triangle resources to bring exquisite concerts and musician workshops to North Carolina. They are committed to training young musicians to take leadership roles in the arts and have needs based scholarships available. This charity is special to Trudi; in her family, art and music were important sources of inspiration and comfort. In one of her earliest memories, she was given a spoon and pot to beat out the rhythm to the 1812 overture. To this day, she still smiles whenever she hears the music.
This special class will be suited to all levels of experience, and all are welcome to join us for a suggested donation of $10 at the door. Registered students are welcome to use thier class pass. No registration necessary.
Restorative Yoga for Spring Renewal:
Shedding Stress, Anxiety and the Blues
Sunday May 20, from 12:30-2:30pm
Spring is in full swing, buds have burst into color; trees are crowned with an array of flowers, foliage, texture and color. Life is vibrant, gleeful and at times downright forceful. This forcefulness can send our normally manageable life spinning. Think of the spring breeze, kicking up its heels, or a vast thunderstorm leading the spring parade! Spring with all its energy bursting forward, with all its beauty calling for your attention can be destabilizing.
Restorative Yoga can offer a time to settle back into the still, calm, natural state of being and from this perspective see your beauty and reclaim your center. See what has blossomed in your life, and what calls out for that precious, nurturing rest of Restorative Yoga practice.
Moving Mantra welcomes Gauri Johnson as our new Restorative Yoga teacher. She offers a practice that invites a deep sense of peace and an inner knowing so that you may carry these qualities beyond your mat and into your life. Join us in welcoming Gauri to the Moving Mantra family of teachers! $25. These workshops fill quickly and space is limited so pre registration is recommended.
